Uncle Sam, Jon Langford
If you can’t afford tickets to Mekons founder Jon Langford‘s Walker performance The Executioner’s Last Songs Friday and Saturday nights, fret not (guitar pun intended): he’s leading a free Walker gallery tour tomorrow, he’ll be at tonight’s opening of a show of his art at Rogue Buddha, and he’ll be doing an in-store performance at the Electric Fetus on Saturday.
In other news, Pitchfork Media reports that he has a new book and a new CD both dropping March 7. The solo album, Gold Brick (or Lies of the Great Explorers or Columbus at Guantanamo Bay), includes guest musicians from the Pine Valley Cosmonauts, Waco Brother, Ship & Pilot/Anti-Social Music, and This American One Day Band. Nashville Radio: Art, Words, and Music is a 144-page book of lyrics, anecdotes and Langford’s art, plus an 18-track companion CD. Pitchfork has more (scroll down).
