Jazz composer/pianist Jason Moran returns to the Walker stage for a conversation about Artist-in-Residence (Blue Note), a new release inspired by his 2004 residency at the Walker. Including the recorded voice of performance/visual artist Adrian Piper and percussion by performance/video artist Joan Jonas, this work follows Morans trajectory of expanding the territories claimed by jazz. Join Moran and performing arts senior curator Philip Bither for a talk about the process of writing music inspired by visual art, accompanied by some solo pieces from the new recording played live by Moran.
