Back in September, I mentioned two new web-based projects, by the venerable writer, curator, poet, and filmmaker (among other things) Jonas Mekas. Though it didn’t hit in November as previously announced, Jonas rang in the new year with the kick-off of his 365 Films project. He will create a new film for each day of the year and post it to his website. Each film is free on the day it is posted, but if you miss any, they will cost you $1.99. Catch day 4 while you can.
He is also making many of his short films available on his site, as well as films by his colleagues and friends. There is a charge for these works, but they are defficult at best to see in a theatrical setting, and Jonas Mekas facilitating a means not only for people to see this work, but to also support some of the artists involved.
