What motivated you to become members?
We first joined the Walker to become more involved in the arts community and meet people who share the same interests. A few years ago, we increased our membership to the contemporaries level so we could participate in more cultural events. We love to travel, so the free admission to museums across the country was enticing.
What have you enjoyed most about contemporaries thus far?
Having access to Walker Film Club events has been great. We particularly enjoyed seeing the Spirit Award nominees this winter.
What is your favorite Walker memory?
This past fall we went to see a performance of Geoff Sobelle’s The Object Lesson as part of a Contemporaries event; it was one of the most interactive
pieces of art we’ve experienced in a long time. As audience members, we took a deep dive into the character’s many boxes of memories and were active participants as he brought some of them to life. The Contemporaries Q&A with the set designer prior to the performance gave us valuable insights about the piece.
