1. Fill-in-the-blank: _______________ is what we make together.
Performance is what we make together.
2. What is your favorite public space in the Twin Cities or beyond?
I grew up in Saint Paul, and Rice Park is a great space. Standing on the tip of the peninsula in Como Park when the lake is frozen is best if you have a dog who’s learning to walk on ice.
3. What is the perfect Minnesota summer activity?
Fishing’s high on my list in the last few years. Didn’t grow up fishin’ but I find it extremely peaceful. Throwing out a line is pure joy, and the stories that come from hooking something are great.
4. What brought you to Open Field?
My teenage daughter’s love of drawing and her excitement about participating in the fantastic offerings on the Field resurrected the space for me; I was still mourning the old Guthrie, which was the site of my lifelong passion about theater.
5. What other Open Field activity are you looking forward to this summer?
Internet Cat Video Festival with that same fabulous daughter. On the 30th. She wants me to advertise it.
6. What is your favorite summer song?
That camp song about the Titanic going down, “oh it was sad…. it was sad.. it was sad when the great ship went down (to the bottom of the)” … and Uncle John’s Band, of course. That was from the Greatful Dead if you’re a youngun.
