Filmmaker Statement:
Hello, my name is Grace Dupre, and the title of my film is “ Prowl.” (Prowl -An Experiment in Animation)
I made this film in a film class last summer (Minnesota Institute for Talented Youth) – my other project ran into technical issues less than a week before it was due (and eventually got eaten by my computer), so I needed something for the class. I had always wanted to experiment with live-action, green screen, and animation. It seemed like a fun, quick idea, and easy enough to do in the few days that I had. For the most part, it worked.
I really enjoy the films of Stanley Kubrick, Michael Gondry, and Alex Proyas. Although they didn’t really influence this particular film, they have strongly influenced subsequent works.
I am 17 years old and I attend St. Bernard’s High School in St. Paul, Minnesota.
I got help from a few people – The t-rex and the spider animation models were created by other artists and freely provided by my animation program, although their animation was my own. Phoebe Bottoms (another student) starred in my film.
