Signs of our Times

trisha-brown_drawing.jpgThe New York Times profiled Trisha Brown yesterday, focusing on her swan song on the dance floor. An exploration of Brown’s drawings anchors the Walker’s Year of Trisha, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota. Newsday also profiled her, spending time on Brown’s “Foray Fort,” which premiered with the boost of a Walker commission in 1990. Make sure to pick up a copy of the March/April issue of WALKER magazine, which reaches the public by the third week of February. Brown discusses her drawing at length and the connections to her choreography.

Also in Sunday’s Times is an illuminating piece on Jasper Johns. The writer quotes Richard Prince, whose Spiritual America opens here March 22, as saying Johns “made me look at abstraction in a new way.”
