Part experimental music gig, part multimedia rock show, part Happening, Sō Percussion’s Where (we) Live is a freeform investigation of the places–and states of mind–we call home. Performed in the McGuire Theater in September 2012, this piece by the Brooklyn-based quartet features an array of traditional and invented musical instruments and combines video (including a contribution from Matmos’ Martin Schmidt), guitar work and new compositions by Grey Mcmurray, direction by Ain Gordon, and performances by Minneapolis-area choreographer Emily Johnson and visual artist Kate Farstad. Where (we) Live, which spawned a companion album of the same name, was commissioned by the Walker Art Center and is presented exclusively in its entirety on the Walker Channel.
