Where can you find pitchforks in business meetings, hunters celebrating by a kitchen sink, and bananas served lakeside via a fishing pole? The Ordinary Pictures preview party! In homage to an exhibition that features artists appropriating, collaging, and swapping everyday images, the Walker opened late for a night of DJ mashups, Green Screen cocktails, and a first look at the show. Small bites and cupcakes filled the Cargill Lounge and Bazinet Lobby, with the Cinema transformed into a photo booth for guests to jump into classic stock photos and remix the images we see each day. There were three background options, stacks of props, a photographer, and endless possibilities. With their reimagined stock photos in hand, guests then stepped into the Art Lab to copy and collage their images to a soundtrack of classic song covers.
Ordinary Pictures runs through October 9, 2016 and, yes, those ladies are still laughing with salad.
