Why is being a member important to you?

The arts have always been a big part of my life—viewing them as well as making them—and the fact that the Walker presents a mix of visual art, performing arts, and film makes it a vital source of inspiration to an all-around art junkie like me.

Do you have a favorite Walker memory?

I’ve been going to the Walker since  high school, so it’s hard to narrow it down to one, but the Kara Walker exhibition in 2007 was among the most thought-provoking experiences I’ve had in the galleries. On a broader scale, there have been several performing arts pieces that have impacted me long after
leaving the theater, and the range in films I’ve attended over the years has given me so many insights into places, people, and issues I wouldn’t otherwise experience.

If you could have any one artwork in your home, what would it be?

Chuck Close’s Big Self-Portrait. I like portraits. I’d find the wall space.
