Tadashi Sugimoto Has Been A Walker Member Since 2014

Tadashi Sugimoto

Why did you first join the Walker?

I grew up living and breathing art. My grandfather worked as art director for a large advertising house and is an artist himself. As a kid, my mother would take me for walks through the sculpture garden; we’d also take in the various performances and films. Joining the Walker was the perfect way to reconnect with my roots.

Do you have a favorite membership benefit?

I really enjoy member receptions. It’s a great opportunity to meet people and tour new exhibitions. Having the ability to engage with curators and ask questions about each piece is really special.

Why the Walker?

To me, the Walker feels like the heart of the arts community.
Having lived on both coasts, I’ve had the opportunity to visit many galleries and museums. The Walker truly is a standout. Visitors and members are able to experience art in every medium: live performances, films, concerts, food, indoor and outdoor exhibitions—the list goes on.
