Your first Walker membership was a gift! Which benefits were you most excited about?
I was surprised and delighted by my Walker membership. In addition to bringing guests to events, I was particularly excited about reciprocal museum access. I’ve seen special exhibitions nearby at Mia and as far away as the Maine Historical Society. I hope to cover the coasts and fill in the gaps.
What are you most looking forward to when A Think & A Drink returns this September?
I love hearing the tour guides’ insights into each exhibition—having a deeper layer of understanding makes conceptual art even more valuable to me. Our recent tours of The Body Electric, in particular, were great. I had glimpsed the show weeks before, so it was fascinating to revisit it and take in other perspectives from my tour group.
Do you have a favorite Walker program?
It’s hard to pick one! The Film Independent Spirit Awards are a personal favorite because of the eclectic nature of the films and their great timing during bitter Minnesota winters. Chloé Zhao’s quasi-documentary The Rider stands out—it details a cowboy’s journey after a tragic accident. I wouldn’t have thought to check out that film had it not been for the Walker.
