Watch: Resonance: Sound Art Marathon: Jules Gimbrone

Jules Gimbrone’s corporeal/ sculptural machine is composed of glass vessels filled with organic matter that are charged and broken by sound. Phonetic utterances are tuned and retuned until liquids jump, shake, and release. The machine, performed live by Gimbrone, also plays autonomously—functioning simultaneously as instrument, performer, ensemble, and stage.

Presented as part of the Walker Art Center’s Resonance: Sound Art Marathon, May 18, 2019.
