Portland, Oregon-based graphic designer Aaron Draplin created this poster to pay homage to the State of Minnesota, where he lived when obtaining his degree from the Minneapolis College of Art in the late 1990s. Created on the occasion of a one-man exhibition at the studios of Burlesque of North America in Minneapolis, where Draplin covered a 20-foot-tall by 40-foot-wide orange wall with iconography and typography of “everything” in his creative and mental inventory. In a similar spirit, the silkscreened poster maps the State of Minnesota through various icons and logos: Minnesota Twins, Red Wing boots, Target, Jolly Green Giant, Grain Belt Sign, Hüsker Dü, General Mills, Babe the Blue Ox, the Coen Brothers—it’s all there, in Fleet Farm orange.
