mnartists.org, a joint project of the Walker Art Center and the McKnight Foundation, celebrates the release of The Music of Here.Now., a CD compilation by Minnesota-based musicians registered on the site, with a CD release party on Saturday, September 24, 7 pm–12 midnight at Grumpy’s Downtown Minneapolis location.
Featured artists at the event include: Jake Keeler and Cheap Cologne creating an “audio/visual mash-up” of deejaying and painting to their music. Other bands performing at the event will include The Field and Pushpause.
Reflecting the diversity of artists registered on the Web site, The Music of Here. Now. features tracks spanning genres as diverse as punk, new age, hip-hop, and Andean folk. The winning tracks were selected by a panel of six judges from more than 200 entries in a mnartists-sponsored contest.
