Stories and surprises unfold in a day filled with books at the Walker Art Center’s Free First Saturday event

Tell Me a Story

, from 10 am–3 pm Saturday, March 7. Inspired by the exhibition Text/Messages: Books by Artists, the days’ events include two art-making activities creating artist books, led by experts from the Minnesota Center for Book Arts; story readings and storytelling performances related to the permanent collection; a screening of a short film showcasing cross-stitch needlework and a 3-D film about the sun; a Find the Book gallery scavenger hunt; and a show-and-tell session with book artist Jody Williams, who shares samples of her work.

Activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 am–3 pm. Gallery admission is free from 10 am–5 pm on Free First Saturday.
