Enjoy an uplifting day of outdoor family fun at the Walker Art Center’s Free First Saturday event
Up, Up, and Away
, from 10 am–3 pm Saturday, June 6, in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Fantasies of flight become reality in a day inspired by the exhibition Tomás Saraceno: Lighter than Air. The day’s events include an acrobatic performance by Xelias Aerial Performance Company; an art-making activity to create wind turbines and learn about renewable energy led by KidWind Project of St. Paul; a kite-making activity led by artist-instructor Alicia Dolentz; and a self-guided adventure with the WAC Garden Pack, a family activity kid for exploring the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
Activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 am–3 pm. Gallery admission is free from 10 am–5 pm on Free First Saturday.

Art-Making for the Entire Family: Let’s Fly a Kite!, 10 am–3 pm
FlatPak House
Learn to use everyday household items such as paper and plastic grocery bags to make a one-of-a-kind flying creation. Led by artist-instructor Alicia Dolentz.
Family Tour: WAC Garden Packs, 10 am–2 pm
