, from 10 am–3 pm Saturday, March 6. The day features the Girls in the Director’s Chair showcase, highlighting film and video works by Minnesota girls ages 10–18, part of the Women with Vision 17th International Film Festival; an art-making activity creating phenakistoscopes; a gallery adventure, and storytelling.
Activities are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 am–3 pm. Gallery admission is free from 10 am–5 pm on Free First Saturday.

Learn basic animation by making your own phenakistoscope, a device that creates a low-tech moving picture. Led by the Walker Art Center Teen Arts Council (WACTAC).
Story Time: Doña Flor: A Tall Tale About a Giant Woman with a Great Big Heart by Pat Mora, 10:30 am

Cinema
The 2010 Girls in the Director’s Chair Showcase features 22 films made by over 30 young women filmmakers under the age 18. Entirely youth driven, the screening was curated and organized by six teenage filmmakers from video organizations and schools throughout the Twin Cities. The film fest will travel to Saint Paul’s Minnesota History Center on Saturday, March 20, 3 pm.
