Minneapolis, MN, September 17, 2013 — Gather by D’Amico will feature Chef de Cuisine Charlie Schwandt of Parma 8200, as its guest chef on Thursday, October 3. Schwandt is the latest addition to the unique chef-driven sampler series at Gather featuring prominent local chefs. November features Paul Berglund of The Bachelor Farmer.
Guests can sample Schwandt’s complimentary menu items on Thursday, October 3, with the two featured items being offered for sale on subsequent Thursday evenings throughout October. (Reservations highly recommended.) On the first Thursday of each month, a new featured guest chef serves complimentary samples and is on site to answer questions and meet guests. Gather features a happy hour and full bar with an innovative specialty cocktail menu every Thursday evening.
Created and operated by D’Amico + Partners, Gather serves lunch six days a week (Tuesday–Sunday, 11:30 am–2:30 pm) and a small plates menu on Thursday evenings (5–9 pm), in conjunction with the Walker’s Target Free Thursday Nights. In addition to the events in Gather, Target Free Thursday Nights feature programs throughout the Walker, including performances, artist talks, and gallery exhibitions. October Chef-in-Residence: Charlie Schwandt of Parma 8200

In October, we welcome Gather chef-in-residence Charlie Schwandt of Parma 8200. Join him at the Walker for tastes from his small plates menu, exclusively at Gather this month
Chef Charlie Schwandt is a native of the Twin Cities, but started his
cooking career in Austin, TX under the close supervision of Chef Parind
Vora. After two years of this old-fashioned, apprentice-style education and
tours through many of Austin’s finest kitchens, Schwandt and his wife decided
to come back to Minneapolis to start a family.
Once back in Minnesota Schwandt landed at Barbette and was thrilled to be
able to utilize whole animals and locally sourced produce from the area’s
Schwandt then went to the 112 Eatery to work under James Beard Winner Chef
Isaac Becker, and after participating in the highly successful opening of
Bar La Grassa, he was promoted to Sous Chef at 112. After a successful
stint at Becker’s busy restaurants, Schwandt landed the chef position at Kim
Bartmann’s Pat’s Tap.
In 2013, Schwandt joined the D’Amico family of restaurants and became the
chef at Parma 8200 in Bloomington, offering his own contemporary
interpretation of traditional Italian cuisine.
November Chef-in-Residence: Paul Berglund of The Bachelor Farmer

Paul Berglund was born in the Midwest and attended the University of Michigan before serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He then began his cooking career at the acclaimed Oliveto restaurant in Oakland, CA. During his time there, he rose from line cook to chef de cuisine and gained a deep-rooted appreciation for simple and honest cooking. Berglund and his wife relocated to Minneapolis in 2010 so that she could begin her graduate studies at the University of Minnesota. After a year spent learning the fundamentals of baking, Berglund became The Bachelor Farmer’s chef to return to cooking and reconnect with his Nordic heritage.
Under Berglund’s leadership, The Bachelor Farmer was a James Beard semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in America, and one of Bon Appetit magazine’s 10 best new restaurants in 2012. The Bachelor Farmer was awarded four stars by the Star Tribune.
