Minneapolis, May 21, 2013— The Walker Art Center presents Summer Music & Movies: Roadways, Monday evenings July 29–August 19. The Walker’s popular perennial showcase of free films and eclectic music returns to Loring Park this summer. This year’s films were selected by Mexican artist Abraham Cruzvillegas, whose work is featured in a new exhibition at the Walker. Come along on these journeys into new territory and see what you find along the way. Bands kick-start each evening—look for a mix of local luminaries and DJ hosts from 89.3 The Current spinning between the music and films.

This comic fable stars the beloved stone-faced clown Toto as an Italian everyman on an adventure with his good-natured but empty-headed son. Join us for this old-time jubilee in the summer sun. The Roe Family Singers unpack their saws, jugs, and banjos and dip into a refreshing distillation of traditional folk and country. Legend-in-the-making Charlie Parr then takes the stage with his “pulse-quickening, riveting Americana rooted in Depression-era folk” (Sunday Herald Sun, Australia). The set ends with a rollicking all-player jamboree.

Evaristo and Tony, brothers from the Sierra Tarahumara in northwest Mexico, have just completed elementary school and start their summer vacation. A stolen horse and a trip to their grandfather’s village on the other side of the canyon lead them on a journey into unexpected worlds.
