Bring your group to the Walker! The Walker is pleased to offer discounted admission for groups of 10 or more participants. Guided tours must be scheduled 3 weeks in advance and self-guided group visits must be scheduled at least 1 week in advance to qualify for the special group rate.
Private Tours for Adults
The Walker is offering guided adult group tours of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden this summer. Tours must include at least five and no more than 30 participants (participants will be divided into smaller groups of 10 per tour guide).
The cost for guided tours of the Garden is $10 per participant, which includes free admission to the Walker Art Center galleries on the day of the tour.
Guided Tours must be scheduled at least 3 weeks in advance. We do our best to accommodate your preferred date and time but recommend that you provide multiple date options when scheduling.
To ensure the health of staff and tour guides, all tour participants will be required to wear masks for the entirety of the tour.
School Group Guided Visits
Interactive, learner-centered, and inquiry-based explorations of the Walker galleries and/or the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. All K–12 guided visits are led by our professional museum educators and can be customized to focus on specific themes and exhibitions. Customized tour options available for Special Education classrooms (including Citywide Autism Program and inclusive classrooms)
The Walker is not currently offering in-person guided tours for school or summer camp groups, however there are several self-guided resources to help groups plan a fun and educational visit to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. See the Self-Guided Group Visits section of this page for more information.
Can’t visit in person? Check out our virtual tour options.
Self-Guided Group Visits
A self-guided visit can be a good option for groups who are familiar with the Walker’s collection and are comfortable exploring the galleries without a Walker Educator or tour guide. Self-guided group visits must be scheduled at least one week in advance. For any questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 612-375-7609.
Self-guided groups can visit the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden free of charge. K–12 groups or families with young learners are encouraged to check out the resources and activities for the Garden on the Resources for Learning page.
Self-guided groups are also welcome to visit the Walker galleries, but groups must be limited to 10 people and timed tickets must be purchased in advance (18 and under are free, adults are $15).
Hands-on in the Art Lab
Art Lab experiences are not being offered this summer.
Groups looking for a hands-on visit can pair a guided tour with an Art Lab experience. Art Lab projects invite students to roll up their sleeves and experiment with media, techniques, and concepts of contemporary art that connect to themes encountered during the guided tour.
Group Size: The maximum number of people that can be admitted as one group is typically 75/hour. This may vary, however, due to available space, exhibition size, and tour guide and Walker Educator availability.
The maximum number of students per Art Lab is 40. Groups larger than 40 may split into 2 smaller sections so that half the group tours the galleries while the other half is in the Art Lab.
For any questions, email email@example.com or call 612-375-7609.
Looking to connect with contemporary art? A public tour at the Walker is a fun way to learn about the artworks on view, the ideas behind them, and the complex issues that they raise.
Experience contemporary art in the great outdoors this summer with a public tour of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Led by an experienced Walker tour guide, public tours of the Garden are fun, informative, and free!
Public tours are offered on Friday evenings at 5:30 pm and on Sunday afternoons at 12 noon. Tour groups are limited to 10 people and registration is required. If registration is full, you will have the option of being added to the waitlist. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to register for a public tour.
