In the summer of 2003, I visited the Walker with my family and experienced an exhibition which changed my definition of art. “The Squared Circle: Boxing in Contemporary Art” made me decide, at 15 years old, that I would live the rest of my life as an artist. Unlike most of the bold statements made during that period of my life, that one stuck, and I have maintained my artistic integrity to this day! I was recently reminded of the significance of this experience when I caught my mother attempting to sell the accompanying catalog at a garage sale for just 10¢. Come on, Mom!
