Description
The sugar packet is loose, not attached to the cardboard. Apparently Beuys collected a number of these packets on one of his trips to America. The "theme" of this particular packet is violets, from a series of Domino sugar packets featuring North American wild flowers. Offset text on the postcard looks like handwriting: Laßt Blumen sprechen (Let Flowers Speak). A postcard attached to back of cardboard is blank except for an ink stamp LM "Edition Staeck / 69 Heidelberg Box 102063". See also accession #92.332, which is just the postcard Lašt Blumen sprechen. There are different "flower" themes on the Laßt Blumen sprechen postcards, relating to the different flowers on the sugar packets Beuys collected in America.
