Description
Offset printing on paper strip (.4) around U.S. bills indicates the strip would have been used for wrapping "500 Deutsche Mark / In 50 Banknoten zu 10 DM". Accession #92.283.1 is U.S. dollar bill with screenprinting on reverse: "GUTSCHEIN FÜR / 1 US $ / Keine Einlösegarantie / Der Präsident / Staeck / Spart Energie damit unsere amerikanischen / Freunde noch mehr verschwenden können". Same message repeated on front of paper "insert" (acc. #92.283.2) between the two dollar bills, and on back of second dollar bill (acc. #92.283.3). Produced on the occasion of the exhibition "Museum of Money" at the Kunsthalle, Düsseldorf, 1978, and the Centre Pompidou, Paris.
