Bryan Schmidt

Bryan Schmidt is a PhD candidate in the University of Minnesota’s Department of Theatre Arts and Dance. He holds an MA in Theatre Studies from Florida State University. His research examines the intersection of relational and participatory forms of performance with transnational movement, racial formation, and cultural imperialism, especially through the study of festivals. His work can be seen in TDR, Theatre Journal, and Dancecult: The Journal of Electronic Dance Music Culture. He is currently helping to organize “Prince from Minneapolis,” an academic symposium investigating Prince’s unique relationship to Minneapolis and Minnesota.
