Kirsten Johnson

Kirsten Johnson is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and cinematographer based in New York. Her film credits include Derrida (2002), Darfur Now (2006), and Pray the Devil Back to Hell (2008), which won Best Documentary honors at the Tribeca Film Festival. Her most recent works as a cinematographer include The Oath (2010) and Citizenfour (2014), both directed by Laura Poitras. Johnson's Cameraperson (2016), her first solo feature film, uses footage from her 25-year career to explore "the relationships between image makers and their subjects, the tension between the objectivity and intervention of the camera, and the complex interaction of unfiltered reality and crafted narrative."
