Sarah Abare is the Education Programs Manager at the Walker Art Center, where she oversees Tours and School and Teacher Programs. Prior to coming to the Walker she worked in the education department at the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, TX. Sarah holds a BA in art history from Johns Hopkins University and an MA in art history from the University of Texas at Austin.
How Can Sound Change the Way We Experience Visual Art?
Can hearing particular sounds affect the way we see things? LA sound designer Joseph Fraioli worked with the Walker to consider this question, creating sonic backdrops for paintings in the exhibition Five Ways In: Themes from the Permanent Collection by Georgia O’Keeffe, David Hockney, and Caroline Kent. Here he shares audio of the soundscapes and discusses the project.
